Oakland's Jack London Square

After a brief refresher back at the house, we walked over to Jack London Square to wait for the ferry over to the San Francisco side of the bay.

A lovely couple walking by offered to take photos for us when they saw Antho attempting with a self-timer. He was able to make this adorable gif with all the photos they took. :) Right on!

San Francisco Embarcadero area

As we left the BART station, we found ourselves stepping out into a bustling street full of arts and crafts stands. The handcrafted trinkets were in stark contrast to the concrete and asphalt of the urban sprawl.

I love the clock tower, but the views of the bay along the walkway were lovely. This was the first really sunny day we'd experienced in the area as the past two days had been overcast and a bit misty.

Heading to the Tenderloin

After two nights at Casa Loma, we had to pack up and prepare to move on to another hotel for our third night. Rather than stay in the same location for the entire trip, we thought it would be more interesting to spend some time in different neighborhoods during our stay to get a more thorough feel for the city. Before leaving Casa Loma, we utilized their shared showers... The last time I used shared showers was when I was in Kyoto's 9hour Capsule hotel, so this was a bit different to be certain. :P

Golden Gate Bridge

We walked across the Golden Gate Bridge!

Initially, we had planned to bike across, because how fun does that sound?!
A lot, actually, if you're like us. We like active adventures!
However, we found that the only places to rent bikes from near the bridge are still quite some ways away from the bridge itself, and by this point we'd been walking about 8 hours and it was getting late so we were worried about getting the bikes back in time.
We'd hit Haight street, Golden Gate Park and the Conservatory of Flowers, walked up to Immigrant point lookout, then made it to the iconic bridge!

Let's get a walking'!

San Francisco Nob Hill & Chinatown

After our time exploring Japantown, we walked up along Nob Hill and over to Chinatown. It was quite a walk for us Vegas kids, used to our flat valley terrain, but we triumphed!

San Francisco Japantown

From our hotel we were able to walk to Japantown easily as it's roughly a mile or so away.

Having spent several years living in Japan I was really excited to explore the area! Check out my photos below.

Leaving Las Vegas July 8th, 2015

To celebrate our one year anniversary Antho & I ditched the scorching summer heat of Vegas for the cooler breezes of San Francisco for 6 days. It was an all around wonderful trip! As you may have noticed we really like to travel fairly often having gone to Los Angeles in April and hitting spots like the Whiskey, Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Union Station as well as having gone to L.A. last fall. It's always nice to explore someplace new and when the tickets are going for as low as $44 it's pretty budget friendly. Hopefully we'll be celebrating our anniversary with new locations for many years to come!

Union Station: Cali-trip 2015

Union Station, a central point for travel in L.A.

After our adventures in Santa Monica, we made our way to Union Station. This was my first time in the area and it was wonderful to see such a historic landmark. Personally, I'm a fan of the juxtaposition of seeing normally bustling areas when they're deserted, which you may have noticed with my photos of Namdaemun market at night. The area around Union Station was no different, with normally vibrant tourist areas quite and empty during the evening.

Santa Monica: Cali-trip 04-10-2015

The iconic Santa Monica Pier.

After we got to Venice beach by bus, we decided to spend some time wandering the area and stretching our legs. After some time, we made it to the pier…we certainly had to ride the ferris wheel at some point, but the people watching alone was fantastic!

Venice Beach: Cali-trip 04-10-2015

After our show at the Whiskey a Go Go, everyone crashed at a friend's family's house in the nearby suburban area of Thousand Oaks. The next morning Antho and I set off from their area to explore L.A. and some of it's beaches together by means of public transit.
That's right, we bussed L.A.
It was actually pretty freaking awesome!
Never underestimate public transit while traveling, guys!

Hollywood: The Whiskey a Go Go with the O's of Presidential 04-09-2015

Since Antho and I started doing liquid light art, The O's of Presidential have readily collaborated with us and been supportive of our art. Fusing their psychedelic garage rock sound with trippy liquid light visuals works beautifully to set an atmospheric soundscape and helps set them apart from the rest.

When they had the opportunity to play at the famous Whiskey a Go Go in ye old glamorous Hollywood, California, they asked us to come along and throw our signature visuals into the mix.

Naturally, we agreed.
