Greetings denizens of the internet. As some of you may (or may not) know, I've moved to Seoul, South Korea for work recently. It's been an admittedly bumpy ride for me to get here...between financial difficulties, ardent opposition, acquiring my work visa (thankfully I went straight to the Consulate General in Los Angeles in person or I'd only just now be leaving), I actually, finally made it.
I'm here.
This is not my first time being in Seoul, in all actuality. I visited during March of 2014 and loved it here, so much so that when the opportunity arose to revisit it and take a job (drawing, no less) I KNEW I had to take it. In so doing, I had to leave my sweet boyfriend and our mischief of ratties behind, but it was an absolutely necessary endeavor for me to reach this goal. Of course I miss Antho and our ratties terribly, but I'm hoping he'll be able to visit during my stay. In all my travels I've been alone, having the opportunity to share one of my favorite places in the workd with my love would be a dream cone true in and of itself.
There were those who argued ardently, people who'd quite literally scream and yell about what a terrible idea this was, and having to stand stoic and silent while someone shat on my dreams wasn't easy. I truly struggled and spent months weighing my options, feeling hopeless and downtrodden, floundering in despair. It was a very difficult time for me...which, I suppose, makes this becoming reality all the more astounding and gratifying. That should be a post all on it's own, really, as there is much to be said for standing firmly behind your goals and pursuing your dreams regardless of the opinions of others.
All that being said,
Salutations from Seoul.
I hope all is well with you, dear readers.
And remember: NEVER let the opinions of anyone else hold YOU back from YOUR dreams. At the end of the day, it's your life to live, not their's.
Trust me, you'll be so much happier.
XOXO
