Santa Monica: Cali-trip 04-10-2015

The iconic Santa Monica Pier.

After we got to Venice beach by bus, we decided to spend some time wandering the area and stretching our legs. After some time, we made it to the pier…we certainly had to ride the ferris wheel at some point, but the people watching alone was fantastic!

Venice Beach: Cali-trip 04-10-2015

After our show at the Whiskey a Go Go, everyone crashed at a friend's family's house in the nearby suburban area of Thousand Oaks. The next morning Antho and I set off from their area to explore L.A. and some of it's beaches together by means of public transit.
That's right, we bussed L.A.
It was actually pretty freaking awesome!
Never underestimate public transit while traveling, guys!

Hollywood: The Whiskey a Go Go with the O's of Presidential 04-09-2015

Since Antho and I started doing liquid light art, The O's of Presidential have readily collaborated with us and been supportive of our art. Fusing their psychedelic garage rock sound with trippy liquid light visuals works beautifully to set an atmospheric soundscape and helps set them apart from the rest.

When they had the opportunity to play at the famous Whiskey a Go Go in ye old glamorous Hollywood, California, they asked us to come along and throw our signature visuals into the mix.

Naturally, we agreed.

Hair: Adventures in pink hair hues & turquoise mermaid hair transformation

After lightening my hair to a fair blonde,
which is still really weird for me as a lifelong brunette,
I decided to throw some Manic Panic Hot Hot Pink (diluted with a copious quantity of conditioner) over the blonde to bring some depth back into it.
I mean, really, why strip my hair to such a light shade if not to utilize it as a palette?
I kept the pink for close to a month…
then I got bored.
It was time to transform into a mermaid!

Seoul: Gallery Woo Fun Art

After my visit to Hongdae, I met with some fellow artists at Gallery Woo
There are prints from a wide array of caricaturists with differing styles throughout the gallery, and the building itself had a quirky and inviting interior. The location serves as a meeting spot and classroom throughout the month with various lessons offered from art to English, and their cafe serves delicious coffee on top of all the ample fodder for creativity.

Project: Early June tie-dye session

Antho and I are big into colorful projects.
Between our liquid light company, our ever-changing hair colors, my art, and our tie-dye projects and various stores (like Redbubble and Etsy) we keep things pretty vibrant on a regular basis.

Here's a recent batch of tie-dye we've made!

Vegas: Light art show @ the Velveteen Rabbit for Diego's b-day!

Our friend Diego recently celebrated another successful rotation around the sun at the swanky Velveteen Rabbit in Downtown Vegas. There was a DJ, festivities, libations, cool cats and cake!
That's right.
The cake was not a lie.

Anyway, as our visual act 710Visuals we did a live light art performance testing some excellent new equipment. The end results were a lot of fun, check it out after the cut!

Seoul Trip: Hongdae

Hongdae is famous as a youth district in Seoul, with a college and many restaurants and art abounding.
Check out these cool murals near the train station, so much character and life.
I love seeing street art like this, if you haven't noticed
As I had an appointment later on that day, I didn't have quite as large of a window of time to explore the area as thoroughly as I may have wished, but I enjoyed the vibe and scenery of what I saw!
Enjoy the photos!

Vegas: June 14th, Freak hail storm

So, this just happened.

I thought I heard thunder grumbling in the distance and stepped outside only to have hail start pouring down moments later.

It's still sunny out.

Vegas: June 13th, 2015 Liquid Light art Show @ the Velveteen Rabbit

O's of Presidential getting down with some excellent tunes.

Antho & I have been doing liquid light art together as 710Visuals for a few months now, hitting various venues all around Vegas and have even performed at the Whiskey A Go-Go in Hollywood, but this was our first time at the Velveteen Rabbit. It's a lovely little bar and music venue tucked away in an enclave of eccentric businesses downtown, with a crew of dapper hipsters running things behind the counter and a lovely little garden out back. For this show, we collaborated with the exceptional visual artist Jason Casey, whom we've worked with at Photo Bang Bang in the past. His style of light art mixed with liquid light art creates quite an effect.

For the O's of Presidential set, the very talented balloon artist Tawney constructed a balloon wall on site, giving the visuals that much more texture and creating a dreamy scene between sets.

Seoul Trip: Day 4, exploring near Anguk station

Changdeokgung Palace.

A brief walk from Yim's house stood Changdeokgung palace, a vibrant landmark and beacon of hope during my stay; once I saw the palace in it's resplendent decorative colors and tiles looming into view, I knew I was either close to my home base or off on my way to another adventure.

I had an appointment later in the afternoon, but had enough time to do a little exploring. Anguk station was the closest and I stayed relatively close for the morning in an effort to avoid tardiness. The area was quirky and fun.

Vegas: June 6th, Friday Noise

My boyfriend and I make liquid light art.

Have you ever heard of it? It's pretty fun! We've been doing live performances for some of our friend's bands throughout Vegas and recently did a show at Photo Bang Bang

Seoul Trip: Korean Conbini 『Convenience Store』

Ah, convenience stores. A beacon of civilization and comfort in an often dark and confusing world.

In my travels, the conbini are often a thing of wonder. For example, in Japan you can pay all your utility bills, send mail, pick up a bottle of whiskey (or soju, or sake), some spaghetti (or ramen, udon, bento boxes, onigiri, sandwiches, etc), some freshly brewed iced coffee or kitchen staples (mirin and dashi, anyone?) to pantyhose or make up to porn and ice cream...

Well, I'm pleased to say that they're pretty amazing in Korea, too!

Seoul Trip: Day 3 Shenanigans at the chicken joint

Who parties hard?

So Ko!
A.K.A. South Korea
Home of many absolutely wonderful things like kimchi, K-pop, soju, and a whole assortment of other super awesome things.
Awesome like these guys, at the fried chicken joint near Anguk station.
Their boss got so toasted his underling graciously cradled his cranium in order to prevent him from taking a dive before grabbing him a taxi and sending him home safe. True teamwork.

After returning to my guest house from the shenanigans at Namdaemun, I still had some energy to burn so I wandered to the neighborhood station and found a late night place that specialized in Korean fried chicken dishes, which I was curious about, so I popped in. Being a small joint, I quickly made a lot of new friends. ^_^;

Seoul Trip: Day 3, Namdaemun market at night

After leaving Namsan Seoul Tower by cable car, I walked through the neighborhood until I was able to find the market, which was mostly closed up for the evening due to the late hour. Not to be deterred, I took advantage of the somewhat solemn shadows and deserted corners for many photos. This is kind of a theme of mine. I love seeing cultural centers in their off-hours.

Warning! This post is going to be photo heavy!

This post focuses on photos of the market itself, if you're curious about what I ate while there read here!

2015- The Just Because Sale

Guys, I'm super excited to be sharing this with you!

A few months ago Antho & I launched our fledgling Storenvy shop for our 710Visuals project. We love all things colorful and have been experimenting with various media, including clothing and live liquid light art performances. We've been doing shows all around Vegas, including one coming up at Photo Bang Bang for First Friday!

Our Storenvy is one of the places we've chosen to share our creations, but this is the first time we've gotten involved in a site wide event like this. Between Friday the 5th and Monday the 8th we'll have 20 items up for 20% off…that's half of our store!!

Some of the shirts that will be on sale:

Hope to see you there!

xoxo Nau

Seoul Trip: 2014-03-05 Seoul Tower

After an afternoon recharge from Insadong, I headed out towards Seoul tower, which later led me to wander Namdaemun market.

This post, however, is specifically about Seoul tower. It really is a beautiful tower that offers stunning views, so click on through for the photos!

Seoul Trip: May 5th, 2014 Insadong visit

The historic neighborhood of Insadong was a relatively short walk from where I was staying, so I headed over my third day there.

Photo heavy post below!
